Frequently Asked Questions and Answers
What does 5.1 and 7.2 mean?
5.1 refers to the configuration of a surround sound speakers with the first number being the amount of speakers and the second number being how many subwoofers. 5 usually means a left, right, centre and two rear speakers. The .1 or .2 simply means one or two subwoofers. 7 would include extra speakers at the rear. You may now also see a third digit in this format which refers to overhead speakers, for example 5.1.4 would indicate 5 speakers around the room, 1 subwoofer & 4 overhead speakers. The total number of speakers you can have in your setup will depend in how many channels of amplification are available in your amplifier.
Can you mix and match the wireless bass modules and soundbars?
Yes. The Bose Soundtouch 300, Soundbar 500, Soundbar 700, Acoustimass 300, Bass Module 500 and Bass Module 700 all use the same wireless protocols and can be mixed and matched, however ther cosmetic design is more complimentary when you match the cass module to the same class soundbar.
Can the Bose Bass Module be wired?
Yes. If for some reason a wired connection is preferred, the Bose Bass Module and the Bose Soundbar can be hardwired together using a standard 3.5-mm audio cable. Contact your local Bose customer service centre or purchase this standard cable at any electronics store.
What placement guidelines should be considered to ensure optimal audio performance of the Bose Bass Module?
For the best sound quality, the Bose Bass Module should be placed on the floor against the same wall as the television and soundbar, with an electrical socket nearby for the power cable. The bass module should not be placed on a shelf or table. For more bass, the bass module should be placed closer to walls and corners. For less bass, the bass module should be pulled away from walls and corners.
Can the Bose Bass Module be added to other one-piece Bose speakers, such as the Bose Home Speaker 500 or SoundTouch 10 wireless speaker?
No. The Bose Bass Module can only be added to the Bose Soundbar 500, Bose Soundbar 700 and SoundTouch 300 soundbar.
